Robbins is a small town at the northern end of Moore County, known for its red clay and its place along the Pottery Highway, N.C. 705. I have represented the sellers of two lots on N Green Street, so I know Robbins through my land work. If you are considering land or a home here, I hope this page helps.
Where Robbins Is and Getting Around
Robbins sits at the northern end of Moore County. The Town of Robbins notes that its red clay is a key material for the potters along N.C. 705, the Pottery Highway, and that the rural surroundings offer activities from stargazing to kayaking.
A Short History of Robbins
The town began in 1795, when gunsmith Alexander Kennedy settled along Bear Creek and made long rifles there. The community was later known as Mechanics Hill, then Elise, then Hemp. It officially became Robbins in 1943 by an act of the General Assembly, in honor of mill owner Karl Robbins, according to the Town of Robbins history page.
Things to Do
The town lists annual events including Farmers Day, Freedom Fest, Harvest Fest and a Christmas Parade. The Town of Robbins website is the best place to check current dates.
