Lillington is the county seat of Harnett County, set along the Cape Fear River between Raleigh and Fayetteville. I represented the buyers of a home in this area. If Lillington is on your list, I hope this page helps.

Where Lillington Is and Getting Around

Lillington sits along the Cape Fear River, between Raleigh and Fayetteville, and is the county seat of Harnett County, according to the Town of Lillington. Drive times change with traffic and construction, so I always suggest testing your own commute at the hours you would actually drive it.

A Short History of Lillington

The town is named for Revolutionary War Colonel John Alexander Lillington, who led Patriot forces at the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge in February 1776. Harnett County was formed in 1855, and Lillington won an election to become the county seat, ratified in 1859. The town was first incorporated in 1871, and after that charter lapsed it was incorporated again on March 4, 1903, according to the Town of Lillington history.

Schools

Public schools here are part of Harnett County Schools. Attendance zones can change, so I always suggest confirming a specific address with the district’s own address lookup tool before you make a decision.

Buying or Selling in Lillington

Lillington offers the services of a county seat with a small town pace. A Lillington mailing address can be inside or outside town limits, so I always confirm that, along with zoning and utilities, for each property.
