Angier is a small town just south of Fuquay-Varina, and I have sold homes here, so it is a place I know from real transactions. Most of the town is in northeastern Harnett County, and a small part reaches into Wake County. The town’s own Public Works page describes its lines running through both Harnett and Wake counties. Which county a home is in affects property taxes, schools and some services, so I always confirm it for each address.

Where Angier Is and Getting Around

Angier is south of Fuquay-Varina and Raleigh. N.C. 55 runs through the center of town, and N.C. 210 crosses it downtown, heading east toward Interstate 40 and southwest toward Lillington, the Harnett County seat. U.S. 401 is nearby. Drive your likely commute at the hours you would actually travel before you decide.

A Short History of Angier

Angier grew up on the farm of J.C. “Jake” Williams. Around 1899, a railroad built by Colonel Jonathan Cicero Angier reached the farm from Apex to haul lumber, and the station was named for him. The town was incorporated by the General Assembly on March 1, 1901, with Jake Williams as its first mayor. Angier is known as the Town of Crepe Myrtles because the Angier Woman’s Club planted crepe myrtles along the roads in the 1930s. Schools

Most of Angier is served by Harnett County Schools, and addresses in the Wake County portion are served by the Wake County Public School System. Attendance zones can change, so I always suggest confirming a specific address with the district’s own address lookup tool before you make a decision.
